A Saskatchewan man is facing charges after a young woman was killed in a rollover crash in western Manitoba.
Russell RCMP were called about the crash in the area of Kilman Cottages, in the Rural Municipality of Riding Mountain West near the Saskatchewan border, at about 1:10 a.m. Sunday.
RCMP said Tuesday that three adults were in a utility terrain vehicle when the driver lost control. Passengers can sit side by side in UTVs.
A 19-year-old woman from Killaly, Sask., was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the driver — a 19-year-old man from Langenburg, Sask. — and a 19-year-old man from Churchbridge, Sask., were not hurt.
“It is believed none of the occupants were wearing seatbelts or helmets at the time of the collision,” police said in a news release.
The driver was arrested for impaired driving causing death and released from police custody. He is scheduled to appear in court in Russell on Oct. 23.
