A 47-year-old man is dead after his canoe capsized near Bloodvein First Nation Friday afternoon.
Bloodvein RCMP were sent to the area and, with the help of a volunteer, were taken by boat to a Long Body Creek riverbank where a family of three was found.
The man “went into medical distress once removed from the water,” an RCMP news release Monday stated. He died after arriving at the local nursing station.
Two others in the canoe, a 44-year-old woman and 12-year-old girl, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were sent to hospital.
