A 50-year-old man drowned after a boat broke down on Family Lake this weekend.
Little Grand Rapids RCMP were called at about 7:45 a.m. Sunday about an incident that happened the night before on Family Lake. Police were told three males were returning to Little Grand Rapids when their boat broke down.
One of the males fell into the water while they were trying to fix the motor and didn’t resurface. One of the other males jumped into the water to try to pull the drowning man to safety but was not able to.
The two males rowed back to the community to get help. Community members and band constables returned to the area and found the male dead in the water.
RCMP were contacted and recovered the body. An autopsy confirmed the man drowned.
