A homeless man has been charged after he allegedly threw a water bottle at a child playing next to a park, then chased the boy while screaming at him.
The incident happened as a group of children was passing the park, where an encampment was set up, at the southwest corner of Pacific Avenue and Ellen Street at about 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 8. The man chased the boy “down the street,” the Winnipeg Police Service said in a news release Tuesday.
The kids ran to safety. A parent took a picture of the suspect and contacted police.
Officers arrested a 27-year-old man at the encampment in the city’s Centennial neighbourhood. He was charged with assault with a weapon and detained in custody.
