Police are asking for the public to come forward with information after a man in his 60s was stabbed in a random attack by a group of teenagers in the Mynarski neighbourhood.
The victim suffered serious injuries in the attack, which happened near a condo on the 1100 block of Troy Avenue at about 9 p.m. on Saturday, the Winnipeg Police Service said in a news release Wednesday.
Police said the victim was walking eastbound on Troy from Fife Street, when a group of teenagers gathered in the southwest corner of the condo complex began yelling at the man and confronted him. He was stabbed and pushed to the ground, where the assault continued.
The suspects fled, and the man made his way to safety, where he called police.
Officers provided emergency medical care, and he was taken to hospital in unstable condition. He was later upgraded to stable.
One of the suspects was described as a white male in his mid-teens with facial hair. He was wearing a white hoodie and white pants, police said.
