A West St. Paul man is facing charges after a male victim was beaten, abducted and sexually assaulted with a gun.
The Winnipeg Police Service was called about the incident at about 4 a.m. Friday.
A man said he was at his home in Inkster Gardens on the evening of Aug. 13 when he was confronted by a man he knows and a second male.
The victim was beaten and abducted. The suspects drove him to an undisclosed location, where he was sexually assaulted with a firearm. His cellular phone and passport were stolen.
The man was eventually released and later called police.
Gurpreet Vehniwal, 34, of West St. Paul, has been charged with sexual assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, careless use of a firearm, kidnapping, assault with a weapon, robbery, extortion, uttering threats, obstructing justice and two break-and-enter offences. He was detained in custody.
