Manitoba Hydro warns of scam emails

Manitoba Hydro is warning of an email scam targeting customers.

Some have received imitations of an email from the Crown corporation saying their bill is ready to view.

“It appears very similar to a Manitoba Hydro email, but there are noticeable differences,” the public utility said in a news release Friday.

Customers should read billing emails closely to ensure the sender is notifications@hydro.mb.ca, and that the displayed portions of their street address and account number are correct, the release said.

“If this information does not appear correct, customers should not reply or click on any links provided, and delete the email,” the release said.

Customers with an online account can log in to check whether a new bill has been issued.
