The Manitoba government launched a provincial grocery study Wednesday as it seeks to reduce food costs.

The study will look at predatory or differential pricing practices and “outdated” antitrust and anti-competition policies, among other things, the province says.

The Manitoba Bureau of Statistics will lead the initiative. The study is set to be finished this spring; preliminary findings could lead to affordability measures included in the upcoming budget.
