Manitoba has the second-highest rate of people who support federal workers spending more time in the office, a survey determined.

Public servants eligible for a hybrid work arrangement are currently required to work on-site at least two or three days per week. The requirement will change to at least three days on Sept. 9.

A survey by the Angus Reid Institute found 43 per cent of Manitobans “strongly support” the federal government requiring its employees to increase the number of days worked in the office. That was the second-highest level of support, behind Saskatchewan at 44 per cent. Thirty-two per cent of respondents across Canada were strongly in support.

Manitoba also had the second-highest combined total of people who either “strongly support” or “support” the change at 67 per cent, compared with 71 per cent in Saskatchewan and 59 per cent across Canada.

The online survey was conducted among a representative, randomized sample of 1,751 Canadians from May 16 to May 21, with a margin of error of plus or minus two percentage points.
