The number of recorded measles cases in Manitoba has again jumped.

As of May 2, there have been 549 confirmed and 73 probable cases of measles in Manitoba this year. Three confirmed and one of the probable cases were recorded in May.

Provincial public health officials said Friday that people who were at the RRC Polytech campus at 2055 Notre Dame Ave. on May 4 and May 5 from 7:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day may have been exposed to the virus.

The measles virus spreads through close contact with an infected person and through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

The province has recorded more measles cases so far this year than it did in all of 2025, when 319 were recorded.
