A 32-year-old man has been accused of drug-trafficking-related and weapons offences and was arrested in a common area of a West Broadway apartment on Sunday night.
The Winnipeg man’s name has not been released by police. In a news release, the Winnipeg Police Service stated officers were investigating an unrelated case when they came upon a man in the apartment complex in the 400 block of Langside Street. The man was attempting to conceal a large amount of money and had drug paraphernalia near him, WPS said in the release.
He was searched and arrested without incident. The search revealed about 20 grams of methamphetamine (worth about $1,000), a loaded black and gold pellet gun, a three-inch folding knife, red spray paint, drug packaging materials, cell phone and about $330 in cash. Police said they found a hatchet and 36 rounds of .22-calibre ammunition in the man’s bag.
The suspect was released on undertakings to appear in court at a later date.
