Community members have found the body of a 43-year-old man who went missing when a canoe tipped in Gods River in northern Manitoba on Aug. 25.
RCMP said Abraham Beardy, who was from Shamattawa First Nation, was recovered from the river Thursday, following a weeklong search by water, foot and air.
A female who was with him when the canoe tipped managed to make it to shore.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine Beardy’s cause of death, said police.
