A Manitoba Public Insurance service centre damaged by fire has since reopened for road tests.

Appointments at the Gateway service centre at 40 Lexington Park in the McLeod Industrial area were cancelled after the fire on June 19. Firefighters were sent to the building at 3:27 a.m. and declared the fire under control 45 minutes later.

MPI said Class 1 road test appointments at Gateway resumed the next day and that scheduled road tests for Class 2, 3, 4 and 5 licences, air-brake testing, and estimate appointments for non-hail damage resumed Tuesday.

All customers with appointments for hail damage estimates or to take written driver’s tests at Gateway have been contacted directly.

MPI said the Gateway centre will remain closed for front-counter services, including vehicle registration and driver-licensing transactions, for the foreseeable future.
