Multi-vehicle accident shuts down west Perimeter near Portage Ave.

Manitoba RCMP asked motorists to steer clear of the Perimeter Highway near the Portage Avenue overpass after a multi-vehicle accident in the southbound lanes late Monday afternoon.

The collision shut down the southbound lanes on the Perimeter near the Trans-Canada Highway at about 4:40 p.m.

RCMP said in a news release shortly after 5:30 p.m. that there would be significant delays and to avoid the area if possible. Less than an hour later, police said the crash scene had been cleared.

“It is unknown right now the exact number of vehicles involved in the collision, but there were no serious injuries in the incident,” the release said.
