A new medical clinic with extended hours will open its doors Thursday at Victoria General Hospital.

The clinic will be open from 5:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on weekdays and 1:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on weekends.

“These later hours will mean you can get care even when you can’t step away from work or school during the day. For folks who may not have a primary care physician, this clinic can be a place to go for checkups, prescriptions and all of your routine health-care services,” Health Minister Uzoma Asagwara said in a news release Tuesday.

Same-day appointments can be booked by visiting medinav.ca. Limited walk-in services will also be offered.

The Victoria hospital clinic becomes the third extended hours primary care clinic in the city, joining ones at Grace and Concordia hospitals. They have received 8,380 visits to date, the release said.
