The province’s law-enforcement oversight agency says two Winnipeg police officers acted reasonably when they used Tasers on a man who suffered injuries.
The man suffered a broken rib and a fractured bone in his face after officers were sent to a parking lot on the 1500 block of Regent Avenue about “a domestic disturbance” early on Aug. 16, 2023.
Both officers used their Tasers on the man after he allegedly threw a full bottle of ginger ale towards them before raising his hands in what police called “a fighting stance,” a report by the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba, released Thursday, noted.
“There is no evidence suggesting that the officers used any other force” on the man, the report stated.
