One killed in head-on Highway 8 crash

A Winnipeg man was killed in a head-on crash on Highway 8 on Tuesday.
The collision happened north of Bay Road in the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews at about 11 a.m.
A large truck was on its side in the west ditch and a sedan was in the middle of the road after the crash.
An investigation determined the truck was travelling south and the sedan was heading north when the car suddenly veered into the opposite lane, colliding with the truck.
The car’s driver, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the large truck, a 67-year-old St. Pierre-Jolys man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, RCMP said in a news release Wednesday.
The highway reopened at about 3:40 p.m., RCMP said.
