Winnipeggers have five more chances to weigh in on major zoning changes proposed to help trigger more housing construction.
In-person open houses will be held on changes that would allow up to four housing units to be built on a single lot in most residential areas, along with four-storey buildings within 800 metres of frequent transit.
The changes would also remove a requirement for developers to complete a city application process and hold a public hearing to get such projects approved, if city council approves.
“Come and go” public sessions will be held at Outlet Collection Winnipeg from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on April 29, Dakota Community Centre from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on May 1, East Elmwood Community Centre from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on May 2, Charles A. Barbour Arena from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on May 5 and Canad Inns Destination Centre Garden City from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on May 6.
Information is available online.
The city held three virtual open houses and one in-person open house on the topic in March.
City council is scheduled to hold a public hearing on the proposed changes on June 2.
