The City of Winnipeg is hosting four open houses on proposed zoning changes that would allow for more types of infill projects.
The changes would enable development of homes with two to four units in many neighbourhoods, and taller four-unit homes of up to 39 feet on certain lots within 800 metres walking distance of a frequent transit route.
City planners will be available to answer questions about the planned bylaw amendments.
Virtual events are scheduled for 7 p.m. on March 17, and 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on March 18. People can register at infillhousing@winnipeg.ca.
An in-person event with a come-and-go format is happening at the convention centre (in the north building, meeting room 4-5) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on March 19.
Presentation materials will be available at online as of March 11.
City planners will also take emailed questions during a six-week period from March 17 to April 27. Questions can be sent to infillhousing@winnipeg.ca.
“After the open houses and Q&A period, the city will complete a draft of the zoning bylaw changes for council’s consideration. A public hearing is currently scheduled for late spring,” the city said in a news release Monday.
