Operation Red Nose Winnipeg says it has fewer than one-third of the 600 volunteers it needs to launch Friday.

The program provides safe rides home during the holiday season, helping prevent impaired driving.

“Operation Red Nose is more than a ride program — it’s about protecting lives and ensuring everyone gets home safely,” spokeswoman Elisha Dacey said in a news release. “We cannot do this without the support of our community. We need people to step up now.”

Volunteers are needed for driving, navigating and dispatch roles. Training is provided, and the shifts are flexible.

To volunteer, go online.
