Two parents who allegedly abused their child are facing charges after taking the injured girl to the hospital.

Winnipeg police were notified of an infant girl who had been taken to an emergency room with suspicious injuries in late September.

The child abuse unit began an investigation and found the child’s parents had taken their unresponsive daughter to the hospital after she suffered multiple injuries.

Doctors determined the girl suffered from malnutrition and abuse.

Police arrested the parents Tuesday.

The 33-year-old father and 29-year-old mother are facing charges of failing to provide necessities of life. The man is also charged with aggravated assault.
