A Charleswood park has been renamed for curling champion Dawn McEwen.

The site, formerly called Berkley Square Park, is at 635 Berkley St.

McEwen, who was born in Ottawa and moved to Winnipeg in 2007, was the longtime lead for the Jennifer Jones team that curled out of the St. Vital Curling Club. She is a five-time Scotties Tournament of Hearts champion, a two-time world champion and was on the Jones team that won gold at the 2014 Olympics.

A ceremony with McEwen and Couns. Evan Duncan (Charleswood-Tuxedo-Westwood) and Brian Mayes (St. Vital) was held Tuesday morning.
