A fight in a Marion Street parking lot escalated to a bear spray attack and possible assault with a weapon.
It happened early this morning, just before 2:30 a.m. Feb. 23, in the 300 block of Marion Street. The Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of a fight in which bear spray was discharged and someone was “possibly assaulted with a weapon.”
Officers responding to the scene learned several people were bear sprayed and a 31-year-old woman was assaulted in the upper body with a weapon. In a news release, police didn’t disclose what the weapon was. The woman was taken to hospital in unstable condition and was later upgraded to stable. Five adult victims were treated on scene for the effects of bear spray.
Suspects fled before police arrived, and police haven’t made any arrests.
