McDermot Avenue is closed between Juno and Isabel streets because of a fire, city police said Thursday.
The Winnipeg Police Service advised the public to use other routes in a social media post at 10:22 a.m.
The fire in 521/525 McDermot Ave. — a three-storey, six suite duplex — was reported at about 9:35 a.m. The blaze was mostly contained to the third floor suite of 521 McDermot Ave.
Two people were found dead in the suite, a WFPS official said at the scene.
The official said Winnipeg police and a WFPS fire investigator are probing the deaths and working to identify the victims. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
