A driver is facing charges after a hit-and-run incident where a pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries in Dauphin on Saturday night.

RCMP were sent to Buchanon Avenue at about 9 p.m. and were told a driver had fled after hitting a 43-year-old man.

Emergency crews took the victim to Dauphin’s hospital before he was flown to a Winnipeg hospital by STARS air ambulance. He remained in critical condition Monday, RCMP said in a news release.

RCMP arrested a 20-year-old Municipality of Gilbert Plains woman shortly after the collision and seized a vehicle. She gave a breath sample nearly three times the legal limit for driving, the release said.

The woman was released from custody, with charges pending.
