A 41-year-old man is facing charges after Winnipeg police conducted a traffic stop on the taxi he was travelling in as a passenger.
Police say they stopped the cab around Dufferin Avenue and Salter Street just after 1 a.m. Saturday. When officers approached the vehicle, the suspect got out of it and fled.
After a brief pursuit, police say the man bit an officer during his arrest and a Taser was used.
The man had 14 grams of cocaine and $200 in his possession, states a Saturday media release. He also had three outstanding warrants for his arrest.
The man, who is from Winnipeg, remains in custody.
