Man charged with assault after victim found on doorstep

A Winnipeg man is facing assault charges after police located a stabbing victim on the doorstep of a Blackthorne Bay home.

Police said they found a 23-year-old victim with “injuries consistent with being assaulted with a knife.”

The man, who was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable, told police he was assaulted by his roommate.

Police also said they located a dog suffering from stab wounds inside the residence. The dog was transported to an animal hospital where it was treated for its injuries.

A 29-year-old man of Winnipeg has been charged with aggravated assault, causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and possession of a weapon. He is in custody.
