Winnipeg police are investigating after a man was found injured on Main Street just south of Higgins Avenue early Tuesday.
Police spokeswoman Const. Dani McKinnon said the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was called to the scene just before 4 a.m., where responders found the man in unstable condition and took him to hospital.
The call initially came in as a possible collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle, said McKinnon, but police have not yet confirmed whether that is how the man came to be injured.
WFPS called for police, who responded to the scene just before 4:30 a.m. Major crimes detectives are taking over the investigation and have taped off a scene in the area. Forensics officers are examining the scene.
McKinnon said police are still working on confirming the man’s identity, including his age.
