Emergency responders have been dispatched to a “danger call” at a multiple-storey building in River Park South.

“It is a call for potentially explosive material, unconfirmed – but the bomb unit is attending,” police spokeswoman Ally Siatecki told the Free Press.

Siatecki said the Winnipeg Police Service was informed about the midday incident, which prompted an evacuation of a complex in the 300 block of Warde Avenue, around 11:45 a.m.

City police, firefighters and a Winnipeg Transit bus that is providing shelter to evacuees remain on the scene.

There were no early reports of injuries in connection to the incident.
