Homicide detectives have identified the victim of Winnipeg’s latest slaying.
On Tuesday morning, police said the victim was Edgar Allan Bear, a 56-year-old Peguis First Nation man who was living in Winnipeg. His death marks the ninth homicide in the city this year.
Winnipeg Police Service officers were called about a dead man found at a home on the 1200 block of Selkirk Avenue, near McNichol Street, at about 4:40 p.m. Monday.
Police blocked off a portion of the road west of McPhillips Street and placed yellow tape around a home at 1246 Selkirk Ave. Officers were seen looking through trash cans behind the home Monday evening.
Homicide detectives and other investigators are still processing evidence at the home and in the area.
Police have asked anyone with information on Bear’s death to call detectives at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 204-786-8477 (TIPS).
