A Friday night traffic stop led to the seizure of approximately $17,900 worth of fentanyl, a replica firearm and “drug related evidence,” Winnipeg police say in a Saturday media release.
Around 10:40 p.m., police were notified that a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu was being driven recklessly on Portage Avenue. Ten minutes later, police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle near Mount Royal Road.
Police seized 119 grams of fentanyl, a black replica handgun, two cell phones, a hunting knife and $20 of Canadian currency.
The female driver and male passenger, both 19 years old, were arrested.
The woman is facing charges for possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a weapon and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
The man is facing the same charges, as well as four counts of failing to comply with his probation order.
Both were released on an undertaking.
