Winnipeg’s police chief is hosting a rare weekend news conference to share details about an officer-involved shooting that took place Friday.

The Winnipeg Police Service put out a media alert midday Saturday ahead of a 1 p.m. news conference.

Gene Bowers, chief of police, is expected to address reporters at WPS headquarters in downtown Winnipeg.
