Police warn of potential phone scam

The Winnipeg Police Service says it continues to receive reports from people in multiple provinces who received phone calls that falsely appear to be from the WPS.

All the recipients said the calls appear to have come from the service’s non-emergency number, 204-986-6222.

“As a reminder, law-enforcement agencies will never call you and request personal information or funds. Do not disclose any personal information about bank accounts, identification numbers, credit cards or personal finances to anyone,” the WPS said in a news release Monday.
