The province is giving Travel Manitoba $4.5 million to showcase the province.
Ten per cent of the funds are earmarked for Indigenous Tourism Manitoba. Sport, Culture, Heritage and Tourism Minister Nellie Kennedy made the announcement at a news conference at the Winnipeg Art Gallery on Monday, the first day of National Tourism Week.
“Tourism is a key part of what makes Manitoba such a dynamic place to live, work and visit,” Kennedy said in a news release.
“With this significant investment, our government recognizes the importance of tourism and the role it plays in the economic well-being of our beautiful province. Travel Manitoba has a track record of success in growing tourism in ways that benefit all Manitobans.”
Tourism contributes $373 million in provincial tax revenues and is responsible for more than 25,000 jobs in Manitoba, the release said.
The province welcomed 10.4 million visitors, who spent $1.82 billion, in 2023, the province said.
