The provincial government is providing $500,000 for 51 new electric-vehicle charging stations.
Twenty-three of the stations will be installed in the Rural Municipality of Ritchot, while four will be in Brandon. Morden, Pinaymootang First Nation and Misipawistik Cree Nation will get three each, while the RM of Hanover will get two and the RM of Brokenhead one.
Three multi-unit residential developments will get four stations each, Environment and Climate Change Minister Mike Moyes said in a news release Monday. Two of the developments are in Winnipeg, and one is in Portage la Prairie.
The money is from the Climate Action Fund.
“Our government is committed to taking real action to fight climate change and the transition to electric vehicles will help drive down emissions,” Moyes said in a news release. “As more Manitobans look to make the switch to electric vehicles, there is a growing need to ensure reliable charging infrastructure in strategic locations.”
