The Manitoba government has issued a warning about three new sites where people may have been exposed to measles this month near Winkler, Morden and Mitchell.

The sites include:

  • The Outpost Grill, near Winker, on Dec. 13 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on Dec. 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Morden Collegiate Institute on Dec. 15 and Dec. 17 from 8:50 a.m. to 5:40 p.m.
  • Mitchell Elementary School on Dec. 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Anybody who was at the locations during the exposure times should monitor for symptoms through the first week of January. They should also ensure they are up-to-date with the measles vaccine, the province said in a news release Monday.

Measles is a highly infectious disease that spreads through coughing and sneezing. Symptoms generally appear seven to 21 days after exposure and include fever, runny nose, drowsiness, irritability and red eyes.

Several days after the initial symptoms, a red blotchy rash appears on the face and progresses down the body.
