The Port of Churchill Plus project and a Manitoba Crown–Indigenous Corporation were discussion topics between Canadian politicians and Indigenous leaders Wednesday.
Premier Wab Kinew, Manitoba Indigenous Futures Minister Ian Bushie and federal Arctic Affairs Minister Rebecca Chartrand held a roundtable in Thompson.
The group met with representatives from the Manitoba Métis Federation, the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs and Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak during the day.
Earlier this week, Kinew met locals and tourism operators in Churchill. He said the trip north was about “listening and building relationships” in a news release.
