RCMP arrested a Fisher Branch Collegiate student on Thursday after he allegedly pointed a gun at another student on Wednesday.
Mounties said the local detachment in the community about 150 kilometres north of Winnipeg were alerted to the threat on Thursday around 2:30 p.m. Officers then went to the school to meet with administration. The suspect was not there at the time, RCMP said.
Officers went to the suspect’s home and arrested him. RCMP found a loaded firearm, ammunition and bear pepper spray. He remains in custody, RCMP said. A photo of the seized items released by Mounties shows the firearm was a sawed-off bolt action rifle.
The suspect, whose age has not been released, will be charged with pointing a firearm, uttering threats, five other firearms offences, and four counts each of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
