Remains discovered following Kennedy apartment fire

A suite fire at an apartment-complex on the 400 block of Kennedy Street has proven fatal.

The two-alarm blaze, which took place around 1:30 p.m., saw explosions ring out in Winnipeg’s Central Park neighbourhood Monday and now the Winnipeg Police Service said a deceased person was found in the suite.

What caused the fire is currently unknown and an investigation is ongoing. Police provided no other information about the dead person.

Residents of the apartment evacuated as crews responded and while many were able to return following the fire, some were delayed due to smoke, water, and fire damage.
