Two people are facing charges after a man trying to open vehicle door handles pointed a replica gun at a man who confronted them.

City police were sent to the 200 block of Vaughan Street at about 9:24 p.m. Thursday. Officers were told a 47-year-old man saw a man and a woman trying to get into vehicles — including his — and approached the pair.

The man pulled out the replica gun and yelled at the victim before fleeing on foot. Police arrested a 32-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman in the area of Portage Avenue and Carlton Street at about 9:29 p.m.

Officers seized two replica firearms.

The man has been charged with possession of a weapon and was also arrested on five outstanding warrants related to robbery, property crime and driving offences. He was detained in custody.

The woman, who is facing two counts of possession of a weapon and a single count of breach of recognizance, was released on an undertaking.
