RM of Gimli can accept payments following cyber attack

A month after a cyber attack hit the Rural Municipality of Gimli, the RM can again receive bill payments at its municipal office. 

On Monday, the RM advised there will be no interest on late bill payments as a result of the cyber attack, with no penalties for affected tax or utility accounts as well, said an RM news release 

The scope and effect of the cyber attack is still being determined and the RM is working with experienced cyber experts to “investigate and assess the situation thoroughly.”

The RM first informed the public about the incident on April 28.
