A robbery suspect arrested in Sandy Bay First Nation escaped after being taken to hospital in Portage la Prairie.
The Manitoba First Nations Police Service is searching for Byron Alvin Soloman Roulette, 26. Officers are using drones and a police dog to try to track him down. He has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and escaping custody, among a slew of other charges.
Roulette was arrested for his alleged involvement in a July 24 break-in at a home on the First Nation. The resident was assaulted by a pair of suspects, armed with a gun, who then stole his truck. Police are also searching for the second suspect.
The MFNPS found Roulette while dealing with another incident. They took him to hospital for treatment for apparently self-inflicted wounds, and he escaped while handcuffed.
Police asked anyone with information on his whereabouts to call the Sandy Bay detachment at 204-843-7700.
