Police are searching for a carjacker after he made off with a minivan.
A 33-year-old man was waiting in a parking lot on the 400 block of William Avenue when another male approached him at about 4:50 p.m. Wednesday.
The male demanded property from the victim, opened the vehicle door, pulled the victim out and hit him with a weapon, police said.
The suspect drove away in the white 2009 Toyota Sienna, licence plate LES991. The victim suffered significant but non-life-threatening injuries in the assault, the Winnipeg Police Service said in a news release Thursday.
The WPS asked anyone who sees the stolen vehicle not to approach it and to call 911 immediately.
No description of the male was released.
The WPS asked anyone with information about the carjacking to contact the major crimes unit at 204-986-6219, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 204-786-8477 (TIPS) or online.
