Separate weekend fires under investigation

Winnipeg firefighters dealt with two fires late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

Both fires are under investigation, with no injuries reported and no damage estimates available.

The first was reported at about 10;27 p.m. June 14 in a vacant, boarded-up building in the 600 block of Maryland Street. The blaze was declared under control at 10:54 p.m. The same building burned in three previous fires, in September, October and December 2024.

At 2:44 a.m. on Sunday, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a house fire in the 200 block of Laura Street. The fire was declared under control at 3:36 a.m. They searched the property and determined no one was inside.
