Police are advising the public about a sex offender’s release.
Garry Edwards Jr., 45, is considered a high risk to reoffend, the Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit — a joint forces unit of the Winnipeg Police Service and the RCMP — said in a news release Friday. He is also known as Brendin Edwards, Gary Tait, Garry Crasswell and Garry Crassweller.
Edwards Jr. was released from Stony Mountain Institution and was expected to live in Winnipeg after serving a sentence for being unlawfully at large.
“All females, both adults and children, are at risk of sexual violence,” the news release said.
“This information is provided to enable members of the public to take suitable measures to protect themselves. Any form of vigilante activity or other unreasonable conduct directed at Mr. Edwards will not be tolerated.”
