Shooting suspect found stuck in snow

RCMP say a suspect in a store shooting later drove a stolen vehicle into a ditch while impaired, got stuck in the snow and passed out.

Police said two males went into a store and began arguing with a third male customer already inside in the 1200 block of Saskatchewan Avenue in Portage la Prairie at about 5:40 p.m. Monday.

The two males exited, and one of them fired a shot into the door, RCMP said Wednesday. No one was injured. The suspects fled the scene on foot.

Officers were called about a possible impaired driver in a ditch off of Provincial Road 248 in Elie about two hours later.

Mounties found a vehicle stuck in the snow along the rail line. Officers saw the lone occupant slumped over the steering wheel, RCMP said. They arrested him for impaired driving.

RCMP said officers found .22-calibre rounds of ammunition in his possession. They found a loaded sawed-off shotgun in the vehicle and seized several cases of an alcoholic beverage, Mounties said.

The vehicle was stolen out of Winnipeg.

Mounties said the man is one of the two suspects in the Portage la Prairie shooting incident and a shoplifting complaint in Langruth, where the alcoholic beverage was stolen from.

Tyrone Bone, 20, of Winnipeg is facing charges.
