Four hundred employees of Simaril, a non-profit organization providing support services for people with physical and mental disabilities, have joined the Canadian Union of Public Employees.
The Manitoba Labour Board approved the workers’ application for certification Friday.
“We want to welcome these 400 new members to the CUPE family,” CUPE Manitoba president Gina McKay said in a news release Tuesday. “I am proud they chose CUPE and look forward to supporting them as they begin to negotiate their first collective agreement.”
