RCMP have released a sketch of a man who reportedly tried to abduct a girl in Split Lake last month.

Police released the sketch Monday. Writing on the sketch indicates the man’s left eye is “white,” while his right is brown. He also has a brown “birthmark” to the right of his mouth and a straight scar near his left eye. The man pictured in the sketch is wearing a ballcap with two animals on it.

Officers were called about the incident at about 10 a.m. on Jan. 29.

RCMP previously said the girl, 8, was on her way to school when a man in a white van offered her a ride. Police said the girl described the man as having short white hair and wearing a light grey jacket. Other people described the suspect vehicle as a partially dirty white van seen driving by the TCN gas bar multiple times.

Police asked anyone who recognizes the sketch to contact them at 204-778-3050, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online.
