Spring — and dust — in the air

A fair bit of dust is in the forecast for Winnipeg over the next six weeks.

The city is sending more than 500 workers and 300 pieces of equipment out beginning Sunday in the welcome annual effort to rid the streets, sidewalks, boulevards, medians and parks of the grime and detritus left by winter.

Residents are advised to pay attention to temporary no parking signs placed by cleanup crews, as they risk $150 tickets and being towed.

The city’s curbside yard waste collection begins the weeks of April 29 and May 6, depending on whether properties are located in waste collection area A or B. Winnipeggers are asked not to rake yard waste material onto streets, which can plug drains and cause other problems.
