Université de Saint-Boniface evacuated after suspicious package found

Université de Saint-Boniface was closed for the day after a suspicious package was found Thursday.

The university said it evacuated its campus on the recommendation of the Winnipeg Police Service at 9 a.m.

The bomb unit later determined the item did not contain any dangerous items. Officers began leaving the area at about 10:25 a.m., a WPS spokeswoman said.

All classes, activities, and all services were cancelled, with the exception for the opening event of a symposium in the late afternoon.
